The company building in Neustadt, Sachsen

FG was founded as, Elektromotorenwerk Fritz Gross‘ in Berlin in 1918. The company grew fast and reached a considerable size. During the war years it was moved to Neustadt in Sachsen. After 1945 it continued to work as a partly state-run enterprise. In 1950 parquet sanders were manufactured for the first time. In 1971 the company was fully nationalized.
Besides hand-held machine tools for the craftsman (joiner, carpenter etc.) such as drilling machines, hand-held circular saws and the like, mainly for exports, parquet sanding machines had been manufactured at FG for the entire GDR since 1950.
The company’s focus on exports and the up-market customers have been the reason for a very high quality level of the products. Thanks to the proverbial Saxon innovative spirit the parquet sanders were of equal design and quality compared with Western products.
After 1990 the company was re-privatized but it was unable to survive because of its size and the difficult market conditions. In 1996 it filed its petition in bankruptcy.
The FG Maschinenbau GmbH became a spin-off and continued the rights to bear the name as well as to manufacture parquet sanders.
Thus a basis was formed to continue the production of the tried and tested and efficient machines and to find customers on the world market. With the models of MONSUN, the first belt sander with an integrated dust collection system and sanding shoe, HURRICANE II with a wave equalizing travelling gear or TAIFUN, the first edge sander with speed control and encapsulated disk drive, FG became the top innovation leader in the parquet sander manufacturer market. A robust single-disk machine and an efficient mortising machine complete the program where each specialist finds the right machine for his need.
On an area of 1000 m² all classical metal cutting processes are carried out in Neustadt in Sachsen. FG parquet sanders, which enjoy a good reputation among experts because of their innovation and quality, are made of cast blanks, which are turned off, milled or drilled, self-made components as well as high-quality electric motors, ball bearings and disks.
